Job Description

Position: Lead - Content Acquisition, Digital Business

 

Purpose: The position is responsible for devising a long-term content acquisition strategy and establishing strategic partnerships with film producers, distributors, content licensors and aggregators. Lead the team that acquires films for SonyLIV, in Indian languages and manage the publishing plan for the same.
 

Education: MBA/PGDM in Media Management or any allied degree (Creative capabilities will be given a preference over educational qualification for this role)

 

Experience: 12- 15+ years of experience with OTT / production houses / television broadcaster

 

Location: Mumbai

 

Reporting Relationship: Head Content, Digital Business

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with content providers such as studios and independent distributors for buying titles to improve library strength of own channel and dubbed content for network
  • Creating Content Strategies and Analysing the market segment conditions, challenges and opportunities for international territories and tactically selecting titles suitable for the platform while ensuring all content is consistent in terms of style and quality also guarding cost effectiveness factor in mind
  • Manage and build Distributor/Producer relationships giving constructive feedback on projects
  • Understanding customer needs, pain points, behaviours, and preferences, seek feedback and invent new experiences for the audiences
  • Licensing for Original and Exclusive Content for India market. Finalizing the concepts, reading, and approving the scripts and final masters
  • Liaising between legal and finance teams to ensure closure of agreements and ensuring deliveries of movie materials, dubs & marketing materials by the content providers

 

Content Strategy:

  • Mapping out and continuously evolving a content strategy that supports and extends marketing initiatives, both short and long term, determining methods working for the brand
  • Developing a functional content calendar and strategizing the monthly FPC of  Sony Pictures by ideating new properties and ensuring that the existing properties have movies justifying the concept
  • Understanding slot performance with respect to Markets, TGs & Movie Genres and leveraging market data to develop content themes
  • Executing a plan to develop the assets that support a point of view and educate customers that leads to critical behavioral metrics
  • Supervising the maintenance of content inventories to avoid content fatigue and reduce repetitiveness Conceptualizing and designing an effective promo plan, on-air Astons, bugs, menu cards, break bumpers, now-showing bugs, etc. for monthly content highlights and ensuring implementation by the respective teams
  • Developing standards, systems and best practice for content utilization, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval and content repurposing, including the real-time implementation of content strategies
